Meet Brady Coulthard

Rising to the Occasion for Wisconsin

As a proud seventh-generation Wisconsinite from Neillsville, Brady's early life was framed by the values of hard work and integrity. Raised in a working class family—his mother transitioning from a waitress to a small business owner, and his father, a former Ironworker and dedicated union member—Brady’s parents worked hard for the childhood he and his sisters had. Yet, Brady knew well what it was like living paycheck to paycheck and the high cost of health care (even with insurance).

Brady worked two jobs in high school to prepare for the costs of attending college as a first-generation student. He worked at a community pharmacy where he developed a passion for public health and a desire to pursue a career as a Pharmacist.

Then, on February 14, 2018, during his senior year of high school, there was a mass shooting at a school in Parkland, Florida. Brady’s first niece, Quinn, was entering preschool that year, and all he could think about was what school safety would look like for her and the future generation. He took action, switched majors to Politics and Law, and Spanish, and got involved with the March For Our Lives movement. Brady has been instrumental in advancing legislation to promote responsible gun ownership and public safety through his work with Moms Demand Action and the Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort.

Since 2018, Brady has been involved with the Democratic Party, political campaigns on the local, state, and federal level, labor strikes, organizing movements, and gun violence prevention organizations. Brady led the effort to organize college students around the promise of the Biden-Harris administration in 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Governor Tony Evers appointed Brady to serve on the Wisconsin Higher Educational Aids Board, where he took concrete action to expand access to financial aid for college students and assist families in navigating loan repayment during the pandemic.

Having grown up in a union household, Brady has been a strong proponent of workers’ rights and labor unions. Brady stood in solidarity with workers and labor unions across the state of Wisconsin: in Appleton, where Starbucks workers were organizing; in Oshkosh, where he spoke out against Oshkosh Defense's plans to outsource good union jobs from the Fox Valley; in Mount Pleasant, where workers were on strike from CNH; and in Milwaukee County, where he joined UAW workers on the picket line outside the Stellantis plant in Bay View. Brady is a member of the Wisconsin Labor History Society.

After graduating college, following in his family’s footsteps of small business ownership, Brady opened a small marketing and consulting business for political campaigns, non-profits, and small businesses that is a member of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Brady channels his dedication to service into his small business and actively contributes to the promotion of public schools, public safety and public health of all Wisconsinites.
